Our Mission

Our mission is to provide exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play.

The Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center was created in 1957 by local families of children with disabilities and a group of concerned citizens in the Bryan-College Station community. It brought the first therapist of any kind to our area, a physical therapist, and initially provided therapy for children with polio and other disabilities.  Now, 60 years later, the Center has grown to provide a complete continuum of outpatient rehabilitation services to both children and adults, including older adults.  Today, our goal remains the same:  to serve the rehabilitative needs of all people, from those with minor, temporary injuries to those with major, permanent disabilities.

BVRC has been fortunate to be able to provide therapy services to those in need.  To date, we have never turned away any person who was in need of our services.

Since its inception, BVRC has relied on the financial support of our community.  Our charitable mission is supported by internally generated therapy revenues, private donations, corporate gifts, fundraising events and grants.

BVRC is a local non-profit outpatient treatment facility that has been dedicated to the mission of helping people with disabilities lead independent lives for 60 years in the Brazos Valley.  Our focus started with Children all of those years ago, who had no other facility in the area to help them get to that independent stage of life.

As an affiliate of Easter Seals, BVRC provides a wide variety of rehabilitative services to people of all ages through its physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology departments.  A variety of standard and specialty programs are also available to our patients and BVRC is privileged to provide some programs that are unduplicated in the Brazos Valley.

BVRC is the only rehabilitation service provider in our area that will provide assistance to the uninsured and those with limited financial resources.  We are also the largest therapy provider to accept ALL Medicaid plans in our area. With the rising costs of health insurance, the steep decline in reimbursement rates and the demographics growth in the Brazos Valley, our need to support charitable service delivery is constant.

Without BVRC, a large portion of the local community would not have access to a rehab service provider. Due to the nature of the healthcare industry, reimbursement rates, and the type of clients we serve, we simply cannot exist and provide our services without YOU!

Our clients are adults and children of all ages and disabilities: the tiniest premature infant with feeding problems, the toddler with a developmental delay, the elementary school student with autism, the junior high student with cerebral palsy, the teenager with a traumatic brain injury due to an auto accident, the college student with an athletic injury, the assembly line worker with an amputation due to an on-the-job injury, the middle-aged adult recovering from a surgical procedure, the retiree with suffering from a stroke, and the senior citizen with Parkinson's Disease.
